Meet Records Tumble In The Field at Loucks Games

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A couple of New York's best distance runners won their events Saturday at the 52nd Glenn D. Loucks Games, but the best action of the day came in the field events. 

Justin Forde of Connecticut (Brien McMahon) jumped a wind-legal meet record 50-8.75 to win the triple jump. The New Balance Nationals Indoor and Penn Relays champion is already No. 1 in the country in the event with a season's best of 51-3 (51-9.75w).

Jayla Ellis of Oakland Catholic PA scored 3,570 points in the pentathlon for a new US#1 in that event. Her performance included a 14.37-second run in the 100-meter hurdles and a 5-foot-6 clearance in the high jump. 

In the boys discus, New York state leader Anthony Harrison of Ramapo turned the tables on Friday's shot put winner, Nolan Landis of Madison OH. Harrison launched a big mark of 195-7 to claim the victory and Landis was second with a mark of 191-10. 

Ian Hall of Rogers RI became the first boy at the meet to throw the javelin past 200 feet. His winning throw of 203-2 earned him the Boys Outstanding Field Athlete Award. Hall, a sophomore, owns a season-best throw of 211-5.

Alissa Braxton from Commack NY broke a New York state junior class record, and a new meet record, with 42-0.25 in the girls triple jump. She won the Girls Outstanding Field Event Award.

On the track, New Balance Nationals Indoor champion Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine NJ broke a meet record when he ran a wind-legal time of 13.81 in the 110-meter high hurdles. He came back later to run a wind-aided 13.52 (+3.1w), which is No. 2 in the country under any conditions. 

North Rockland standout Katelyn Tuohy won the girls mile in 4:46.24, cruising to a five-second win over Maggie Smith of the Sacred Heart School of Halifax (Canada).

Penn Relays 3,000-meter champion Brooke Rauber of Tully NY won the 2,000-meter steeplechase in a US#2 time of 6:48.43.

Nicholas DeFelice of Smithtown West NY won the boys 3,000-meter steeplechase, leading wire to wire and finishing in 9:20.99.
